The police are already aware of the matter. (Yes)

(If you want to use a singular verb, your choice will be “policeman”, “policewoman” or “police officer”.)

  1. He sings well but the problem is that he uses too many slangs. (No)

He sings well but the problem is that he uses a lot of slang. (Yes)

(Slang is a mass/ uncountable noun.)

  1. The young lecturer lives in a good quarters (or a beautiful quarter) on campus. (No)

The young lecturer lives in good quarters (or some beautiful quarters) on campus. (Yes)

(“Quarters”, referring to “house”, has no singular form and can therefore not be used with the indefinite article, “a”. However, “quarter”, referring to “area of town”, can be used in both singular and plural forms. E.g. “The politician lives in a fine quarter of Ilorin”; “She drove across the poorer quarters of our community.”
