EMBL and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions EIPOD Fellowships, 2017

Applications are open for the 2017 EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs Fellowship (EIPOD). The programme offers about 20 positions annually and is open to citizens of all nationalities.

The EI3POD programme builds upon the original EIPOD programme which was designed to support interdisciplinary research projects involving two or more EMBL labs.

EIPODs are supported by EMBL and an EU Marie Curie Actions Cofund grant. The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a molecular biology research institution supported by 22 member states, four prospect and two associate member states.

The candidate should have a very good command over the English language.

Course Level: The postdoctoral fellowships are awarded for the interdisciplinary project. Applicants can propose an interdisciplinary project according to their scientific interest or may select from a set of predefined research ideas which they then develops into a full research proposal.

Study Subject: Successful candidates will pursue interdisciplinary projects, transferring techniques to a new context or connecting scientific fields that are usually separate, across at least two labs at the five EMBL sites.

Scholarship Award: Fellowships provide young scientist with full funding for a three-year position.

Scholarship can be taken in All EMBL Sites (Germany, UK, France, Italy)

Eligibility: The EIPOD fellowship programme is open to all nationalities, the only criteria being scientific excellence and interdisciplinarity. Applicant must have their PhD (or 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience) before they start EIPOD position. They welcome applications from scientists who are currently doing postdoctoral research at another institution.  Postdocs at EMBL are also eligible to apply provided that previous affiliation with EMBL does not exceed 12 months in the last three years prior to the submission deadline.

English Language Requirements: The candidate should have a very good command over English language.

Nationality: The programme is open to all nationalities.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is online. All applicants apply with their own interdisciplinary research projects. They can choose one of the three available specialisation pathways already at the application stage or, if successful with the application, during the first 18 months of the fellowship. Applicants are strongly encouraged to get directly in contact with their EMBL supervisor of choice while developing the project proposal and prior to submission.
