Comment on “If you were a leader, what would you do to ensure that peace and security is achieved and sustained in Africa?” by Tope Sunday.

If today, fortune smiles on me and I become a leader, I will ensure that justice prevail at all times. I will be fair to all and sundry, and I will not place one ethnic above the other. Also, as a Christian, I will not treat adherents of other religions as second fiddle, rather, I will treat all, equally. If I were to be a Nigerian leader, I will jettison the Federal Character principles because, it sacrifices competency for sentiment. I will work very closely with the lawmakers to enact a law that will make all the elective positions less attractive and perhaps, on a part-time basis. This, I believe, will put an end to the sit-tight syndrome in most of the African countries. I will fight corruption to a standstill and I will not be selective in my war against corruption as being witnessed in Nigeria today. I will go after those who had looted the country’s treasury and will reward hard work and honesty to encourage others to be more patriotic. I will make hate speech a crime and will be punishable with life imprisonment. The value system has collapsed, I will embark on a massive cultural re-birth, which places high premium on good character, integrity and honesty. I will ensure that all regions have control over their natural resources (restructuring), and I will ensure that they are all heard. May God help me, amen!
